Expérimentations et changements institutionnels : comment agir sur l’avenir du travail et de l’emploi ? 

Le Centre de recherche interuniversitaire sur la mondialisation et le travail (CRIMT) vous invite à participer à son colloque 2015 sur l’expérimentation et le changement institutionnels, lequel aura lieu à HEC Montréal (Montréal, Canada), du 21 au 23 mai prochain.

À travers le monde, les institutions régulant le travail et l’emploi sont soumises à des changements incessants. Elles ne sont plus en phase avec les nouvelles réalités du marché du travail : elles ne parviennent plus à répondre aux transformations profondes que connaissent les économies capitalistes et ne semblent plus en mesure de satisfaire aux besoins des travailleurs et des communautés dans lesquelles ils vivent. Confrontés à pareils défis, les acteurs étatiques, patronaux, syndicaux et de la société civile cherchent à préserver les institutions existantes, puis à en expérimenter de nouvelles. De telles expérimentations se déroulent aux niveaux local, sectoriel, régional, national et transnational et impliquent la création de normes, pratiques et politiques qui visent à répondre aux nouvelles exigences du monde du travail et de l’emploi. Le colloque abordera ces enjeux à l’occasion de cinq séances plénières et de cinquante ateliers et forums interactifs (dont plus de la moitié en interprétation simultanée), répartis entre deux activités complémentaires : un forum des partenaires (vendredi 22 mai) et deux journées d'étude (jeudi 21 et samedi 23 mai). 

Le forum des partenaires sera consacré aux expérimentations économiques et sociales que conduisent les citoyens afin de (re)construire leurs économies et leurs communautés. L'objectif est de repenser les débats sur l'avenir du travail et de l'emploi en réunissant chercheurs et praticiens autour de cas concrets d'expérimentations institutionnelles. L’accès sera mis sur la capacité des acteurs économiques et sociaux à s'engager dans ces expérimentations, tant dans les entreprises, les industries et les secteurs économiques que dans les régions. Les journées d’étude mobiliseront pour leur part plus de 150 chercheurs nationaux et internationaux, lesquels échangeront sur des dizaines d’exemples d'expérimentations institutionnelles susceptibles de réduire les inégalités, d'améliorer les conditions de travail, de diminuer les asymétries de pouvoir, et de rendre les institutions du travail plus inclusives, démocratiques et participatives.

Institutional Change and Experimentation: Shaping the Future of Work and Employment

The Interuniversity Research Centre on Globalization and Work (CRIMT) invites you to participate in its forthcoming international conference on Institutional Change and Experimentation. Spanning a broad range of subjects related to institutional experimentation in the world of work and employment and the building of more inclusive and participative economies and communities, this Conference will take place at HEC Montreal (Montreal), from May 21st to 23rd, 2015.

The institutions regulating work and employment are in a state of flux across the globe. These institutions are out of synch with the realities of the contemporary labour market, failing to meet the challenges of the global financial crisis and the profound transformations of capitalism, and falling short of delivering good results for workers and the communities in which they live. Yet, in many countries, policy makers, corporations, trade unionists and other civil society organizations are seeking to maintain or change existing institutions and there is much experimentation taking place, at the local, sector, regional, national and transnational levels. This Conference will explore these challenges through five plenary sessions, thirty-six workshops and twelve interactive forums (more than half of which will offer simultaneous French-English translation) and two complementary activities: a Partners’ Forum (May 22nd) and two days of Research Exchange (May 21st and May 23rd).

The two days of Research Exchange and three-day conference as a whole (including the one-day Partners' Forum) will feature some of the leading international specialists to explore changes in the institutions of work and employment in various contexts. This international CRIMT conference seeks a better understanding of experimental practices and policies developed by a range of actors at different levels, and to provide an assessment of their social and economic impact. It also seeks to understand how existing institutions facilitate or hinder change and how and why institutions fade away or prevail over time and in different contexts. In sum, drawing on a wide variety of researchers and actors from the world of work, this Conference will focus on institutional experimentation likely to reduce inequalities, improve working conditions, reduce asymmetries of power between actors, and create more inclusive, democratic and participative solutions for shaping the future of the world of work and employment.

All activities will take place at HEC Montreal (3000 Côte-Sainte-Catherine, Montreal).
