Biographie
Ian MacDonald est professeur agrégé à l’École de relations industrielles de l’Université de Montréal. Titulaire d’un doctorat en science politique de l’Université York, ses intérêts de recherche portent sur le renouveau syndical, la géographie urbaine et l’économie politique comparative. Avant son arrivée à Montréal, il a occupé des postes d’enseignement et de recherches à New York, où il a mené un projet collaboratif sur le renouveau syndical (Unions and the City: Negotiating Urban Change, Cornell ILR Press, 2017) dans le cadre duquel il a dirigé des recherches sur le rôle des organisations syndicales dans le développement des politiques publiques au sein du secteur des arts à Toronto et New York. Il est actuellement impliqué dans un projet de recherche-action avec un groupe de travailleurs précaires dans le milieu de l’archéologie québécoise. Le but de ce projet est de mettre en place une forme d’organisation collective permettant de contrer la précarité vécue par ces travailleurs et qui est adaptée à leurs conditions de travail.
